Last spring, readers of this blog responded enthusiastically to a post profiling Rock Roadhouse Winery and its owners Bob and Rhonda Donze. They have been hard at work creating great wines and launching the Aviator Wine Club that offers access to early releases and other perks. Tastings and special events at their scenic location on Sam Snead Highway in Hot Springs have become popular activities for visitors and residents alike.
While Rock Roadhouse is Bath County’s only winery, it’s certainly not the only way to enjoy wine in the county. In the fall of 2021, The Omni Homestead Resort launched the Virginia Wine Experience. Located near the grand Dining Room, the Virginia Wine Experience will be a permanent fixture at the resort with ongoing special events, such as a Spring Wine Festival, educational seminars and tasting of some of Virginia’s most limited and unique wines. Each month a prominent Virginia winery will be featured.
Some of Bath County’s finest restaurants offer extensive wine options. When you dine at Les Cochons D’Or in downtown Hot Springs, sommelier Crystal Krieger will help you find the perfect wine to accompany your meal. In Warm Springs, The Waterwheel Restaurant features a wine cellar. Chef and sommelier John Loeffler will happily offer some suggestions. A great meal deserves a great wine.
Another exciting addition to the wine community happens in the Spring of 2022, with the opening of Rock Roadhouse Winery on Main. It will be a storefront and tasting room in the heart of downtown Hot Springs.
